INDIVISIBLE HOWARD COUNTY, MD ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE: U.S. LEGISLATION / EPA SUB-COMMITTEE

March 18, 2017 Meeting Summary (Draft)

The participants in IndivisibleHoCoMD’s Environment Committee formed the U.S. Legislation/EPA sub-committee on March 18, 2017 to address key federal legislation on the environment and other concerns related to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

ACTION ITEMS:

1. Members agreed to focus initially on reaching out to our legislators and others tobuild support for maintaining strong federal funding for environmental protection.  Specifically and most immediately, members agreed on the importance of beating back the Trump Administration’s draconian cuts to eliminate federal programs related to climate change, including EPA, NASA, NOAA, State Department, and USAID.

2. Members will develop and distribute concise talking points for IndivisibleHoCoMD members to use in reaching out to their legislators by phone, email, letters, and/or in-person encounters.

3. Members will also help to support organization of town hall meetings focused on environmental issues with public officials.
